Acqua restaurant – Receiving the Recognition they Deserve

After nearly three years in operation, 2011 was the year ‘Acqua’ Phuket’s best known and most loved restaurant finally received the recognition it deserved.

2011 was the year owner and chef of Acqua; Alessandro Frau was invited not only once, but twice, to Singapore to receive some of the most prestigious awards that can be awarded to restaurants in South East Asia.

On his first visit, Alessandro received an award from The Miele Guide, which added Acqau to their list of Thailand’s best restaurants. The second saw Acqua win an astonishing 8 awards at the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards (HAPA) 2011- 2013 Regional Series, with two major awards being won, the HAPA Chef of the Year and HAPA Restaurant of the Year.

It was also a good year for one of Acqua’s Thai chefs, Somchit Chanthasin, who flew to Verona, Italy to compete in a World Risotto Championship and came back with third place position.

For those of you who’ve already experienced Acqua, I’m sure you’ll agree these awards are truly deserved. For those who’ve never had the ‘Acqua’ experience pay them a visit and you’ll know exactly why these awards were won.
