A graduate of Rajamangala Technological University in Songkla with a major in Hotel Management, head chef, Khun Supreeda Khemkhang, began her career in the kitchens of the Holiday Inn Resort before moving onto the prestigious Amanpuri Resort. It was there that her abilities were noticed and she was quickly made personal chef at his Chandara residence on the island.
Cooking did not start at University. Khun Supreeda grew up surrounded by a love of cooking. From her mother, she learned age old lessons still apparent in many of the dishes she creates today. For the opening of Silk, Her culinary talents to organise and run our training program as well as plan, structure and lovingly prepare the dishes on the menu.
Today, Silk still affords Khun Supreeda the freedom to create dishes from the full array of traditional Thai ingredients and time honored techniques. Chef K. Ooy Supreeda started at SILK in 2004 and brings her 18+ years of experience to lead her team of 17. She creatively combines fresh Thai ingredients with a focus on authenticity, taste, and texture. Time-honored techniques are combined with a modern touch. For those who want a non-Thai approach, she offers an Italian selection of soups, salads, pastas, seafood and pizzas. A key selling point for SILK is that it draws as many locals as tourists, with a high rate of return.
Thai Chef Supreeda Khemkang has designed the menu of more than 50 authentic seafood, meat and vegetable delicacies. Silk’s delicious creations are carefully prepared using local flavors, time-honored techniques and the freshest ingredients. Silk offers an ultra-modern and relaxed atmosphere with décor that marries the classic and contemporary styles of east and west.
