Dining Out on Kata Beach at ‘Oasis On the Sea’

‘Oasis On-the-Sea’ is the new creation of Mom Tri Devakul – the owner of Phuket’s famous Boathouse and Mom Tri’s Royale Kitchen in Villa Royale, both fine dining locations and boutique hotels in Kata.

You can go in from Kata Beach, almost adjacent to The Boathouse. This southern Kata venue looks out over the beach and is cooled by sea breezes. If you are driving, park up on the nearby hill at Villa Royale – there is a shuttle service to bring you back down to Oasis.

The Décor of Oasis on the Sea follows a colour scheme with non-slip stone floors, lots of white columns, plenty of greenery and, of course, that lovely view of Kata Beach, one of Phuket’s most beautiful strands. Part of the restaurant leans toward a cosmopolitan touch with French ballads and lots of passers by on the busy street outside, while Oasis features plenty of space and a jazz combo from Wednesday to Sunday.

Oasis has a split personality like the atmosphere of many a fine-dining venue nowadays; Oasis-On-the-Sea is cheerfully lit and decked out with bright colours. The restaurant also has al fresco dining.

Mediterranean fare is the theme at the Oasis On-the-Sea Restaurant.  Chef Darren’ dishes are innovative, daring and creative.  Starters include:  a beetroot and sorbet soup, rare seared tuna spring rolls Sliced buffalo mozzarella and much more.

For mains there is the crab meat risotto with roasted beetroot and pumpkin, tempura soft shell crab & calamari on a rocket, avocado & citrus salad and a braised lamb shank. Not to be missed desserts include flourless chocolate cake and a lemon yogurt parfait. and with over 200 labels on offer, Oasis takes its wine list seriously Most wine-growing regions, both Old and New World, are well represented on this impressive list.
