When you think about a steakhouse, you don’t usually associate them to a fine dining experience. Tucked away near Holiday Inn Patong’s lobby area, Sam’s Steak & Grill is an exception to the rule, with décor, service and menu which can easily be compared to some of Europe’s top fine dining restaurants.
This 50 seat restaurant offers an intimate ambiance; elegant sofas and chairs provide comfortable and relaxing booth style seating and soft lighting and sexy, modern décor further enhance the atmosphere. The restaurant also has a private room for up to 12 diners should you want to have a special group event.
An extensive air-conditioned walk-in wine cellar is the centre piece of the restaurant, boasting over 100 labels allowing you to explore and identify the perfect wine for every occasion.
US and Australian steaks are the star attractions on the menu at Sam’s Steak & Grill, which also features chef Chantaporn’s signature dishes “Fillet Wellington” and “classic chateaubriand”. He also enhances the menu with a weekly changing selection of personal recommendations.
Should you choose “classic Caesar salad”, “flambéed crepes Suzette” and “flaming Irish coffee” from the menu, your dining experience will be enhanced further with the talented and professional services staff putting on a show and preparing the dishes at your table.

An all time classic dish with an appealing mélange of flavour, combining a juicy fillet steak, mushrooms and pâté in a crisp pastry crust. The beef was tender and pink and the pastry crispy and golden. Done so well it was absolutely mind-blowing! The dish is served with a choice of 6 sauces, choice of 5 styles of potato and choice of 4 veg.
Duck Confit with braised red cabbage and young potato
Another dish that appears rarely on menus here, but wow you will love this beautifully presented duck confit with its crisp skin and unctuous flavourful meat, so tender it was falling off the bone. Not only was the taste of it profound, the very idea of it was too.
Frog Leg Provencale with garlic butter and parsley
Frog leg Provencal were delightful small tender saddles, pan fried perfectly and they were finger lickin’ good.
Crispy Fried Seabass with cherry tomato and sweet and sour pepper sauce
This was probably my favourite dish, the seabass was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, so you could still taste the natural sweetness of the fish, complemented nicely with the sour pepper sauce.
